California State University, Stanislaus students will have the opportunity to put their academic studies on display at the 25th Annual Student Research Competition on Friday, March 11, 2011. The afternoon competition will be held in the John Rogers Faculty Development Center at CSU Stanislaus.

With the deadline for submission of registration forms and research summaries set for Thursday, March 3, students from a number of different academic disciplines are expected to compete for the cash awards of $500 for first place, $250 for second, and $100 for third in each established category.

This year’s competition has added qualitative and quantitative research categories to both undergraduate and Master’s level research areas, as well as a category for Doctoral students in an effort to allow for equal representation across academic disciplines and research styles.

The Student Research Competition, conducted by the CSU Stanislaus Office of Research and Sponsored Programs in collaboration with the Commitment to Excellence in Graduate Education (CEGE) Center, promotes excellence in undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctoral scholarly research and creative activities by recognizing outstanding student accomplishments.

The purpose of the Student Research Competition is twofold: 1) to showcase excellent research conducted by CSU Stanislaus undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctoral students in all academic disciplines, and 2) to determine which of the student presenters will advance and represent the University at the California State University system competition at CSU Fresno on May 6th and 7th.
