A free program conducted by a pair of California State University, Stanislaus professors titled "Writing Workshop for Women" that focuses on the healing process for victims of rape and abuse will be held at the Women's Center of San Joaquin County in Stockton on Thursday, May 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. University Teacher Education Professors and authors Brenda Betts and Pamela Russ of the "Healing Ourselves Project" will coordinate the program in the Fireside Room at the Stockton location.

The workshop is designed to inform women about how to cope with the devastating impact of rape and abuse. Writing activities will be used for discussion and to support healing. The program will be facilitated in a way that will honor the privacy of participants.

The "Healing Ourselves Project" organized by Betts and Russ provides workshops to assist women who have been victims of rape in their recovery process.
