State Senator Jeff Denham will speak on "Protecting Agriculture in the Central Valley" at California State University, Stanislaus on Tuesday, November 27 at 6 p.m. in the Student Union Event Center.
Denham's appearance is part of the University's Agricultural Studies Speaker Series that features presentations on timely agriculture topics. Admission to the program is free and open to the public. The series is sponsored by Yosemite Farm Credit.
Denham was re-elected last year to his second four-year term representing the 12th Senate District which includes Stanislaus, Merced, Madera, Monterey, and San Benito counties. A graduate of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, Denham is a career agriculture professional. He owns and operates Denham plastics, the leading supplier of reusable containers in the agriculture industry. He and his family also farm almonds at their Merced County ranch.
Known for his tough stance against raising taxes, Denham has been honored by a number of taxpayer, law enforcement, and teacher organizations. He served on active and reserve status in the Air Force for 16 years and was a recipient of the meritorious service medal for his Operation Desert Storm duty in Iraq. He was honored in 2006 by the California National Guard with its highest military award, the "Order of California" service award for distinguished service.
