For the second consecutive year, Stanislaus State has earned a coveted five-star rating from Money.com, placing it among the top colleges in the nation for value, affordability and student outcomes.
Money’s 2025–26 Best Colleges list evaluated more than 700 institutions using 25 data points, including graduation rates, cost of attendance, financial aid, typical student debt and median alumni salaries. Out of 745 colleges and universities reviewed, only 50 received a five-star rating — and just 19 of those were public universities.
Stanislaus State is one of nine California State University campuses to earn a five-star rating this year — and the only University in the Central Valley to receive the honor.
“This five-star recognition from Money.com affirms the intentional work happening across our Turlock and Stockton campuses to uplift students, families and communities throughout the Central Valley,” said President Britt Rios-Ellis. “As one of only 19 public universities in the nation to receive this top rating, Stanislaus State continues to prove that a truly transformative education can be both excellent and affordable.
“When Stanislaus State thrives, the Central Valley thrives — and the nation is taking notice. We’re proud to serve this region and honored to be seen as a national model for opportunity, equity and impact.”
In its profile of Stanislaus State, Money.com highlighted the University’s affordability, 69% six-year graduation rate and focus on student success, noting smaller class sizes that support stronger faculty-student connections.
At Stanislaus State, that commitment is further reflected in student support services and initiatives such as peer mentoring programs and resources that help students navigate academic and personal challenges. As a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) and Minority-Serving Institution (MSI), Stan State cultivates a learning environment rooted in belonging and rich in culturally responsive support to ensure more students — especially those from historically underrepresented backgrounds — persist and thrive.
Money.com also found that Stanislaus State’s graduation rate significantly exceeds expectations based on the academic and economic backgrounds of its student population — a powerful indicator of the University’s impact. The average net price for low-income students is just $3,220, and median early career earnings for graduates are $63,190, reflecting a strong return on investment for students and families.
Stanislaus State’s overall estimated net price with average aid is $7,800, well below the $15,000 national average for four-year public universities — making it a standout for families seeking a high-quality, affordable education.
This five-star rating adds to a growing list of national accolades for Stanislaus State including a recent ranking from The Princeton Review naming the University a 2025 Best Value College. Stan State continues to rank highly for social mobility and student success — reinforcing its role as a driver of opportunity and transformation in the Central Valley.
“Money.com’s recognition underscores what Warrior students, alumni and families already know: a Stan State degree opens doors and transforms lives,” Rios-Ellis said.
