With the health, safety and well-being of the campus community as its highest priority, Stan State is joining several other California State University campuses and suspending face-to-face classes on its Turlock and Stockton campuses for the remainder of the semester.

Classes are suspended March 19, 20, 30 and April 1 to allow faculty to begin to transition to virtual modes of instruction. Classes will resume Thursday, April 2, in alternative formats — not meeting in person. Some lab classes, field courses, courses with a clinical component, and art studios will be allowed to meet on a case-by-case basis in consultation with the deans of the appropriate colleges.

The Office of Academic Technology is partnering with the Office of Information Technology to make laptops and Wi-Fi hotspots available for students to check out in support of remote learning.

There are no confirmed cases of the virus on either campus. The campus is not closing, and classes are not being cancelled. Business operations and student services at both campuses will remain open including dining services, the University Library, Student Housing, Warrior Food Pantry, Psychological Counseling Services and the Student Health Center.

These measures are being taken to mitigate risk and to protect the health of students, faculty and staff. The purpose of this shift is to ensure social distancing to lessen the spread of the virus.

Stanislaus State is following the guidance of the California Department of Public Health and the California State University in making decisions to cancel or delay large-scale events and meetings. Stan State is planning and committed to holding Commencement ceremonies at a time that is deemed safe.
