The Chancellor’s Office allocation of additional spaces for students is a result of the budget that Gov. Jerry Brown signed on June 24, which met the CSU Board of Trustees’ full funding request.
“This allocation of funds shows that our Legislature is committed to providing resources for higher education to better serve our students and our community,” said Noelia Gonzalez, the University’s director of admissions and financial aid.
The increase in what is called full-time equivalencies, or FTEs, will enable the University to further its mission of raising the region’s number of college degree-holders.
“Money magazine recently ranked us first in the nation among public universities for helping students exceed expectations,” Provost James Strong said. “Expanding enrollment next spring is going to be a game-changer for a lot of families in our region.”
Between the number of FTEs added for the fall 2015 semester and this additional increase, CSU Stanislaus could see an admissions increase of 4.6 percent over the 2014-15 school year, bringing the University’s FTE total to 7,406.
Enrollment for the spring semester will be open to the following groups:
- First-time freshmen
- First-time upper-division transfer students
- Credential students
- Master’s students
- Students with a bachelor’s degree admitted to the nursing program
Gonzalez said that spring enrollment, while open to all prospective students, provides an excellent opportunity for students placed on the fall semester wait list because of missed application deadlines.
