University Extended Education at California State University, Stanislaus will hold an information session in Modesto on Friday, April 4 for its upcoming new class titled "Spanish for Health Care Workers."
The free program is scheduled for 1 to 2 p.m. at the Sutter Gould Medical Foundation Education and Conference Center, 100 McHenry Ave, Suite 60B, in Modesto. Registration information is available at www.ExtendedEd.com/rsvp or by calling (209) 667-3111.
Scheduled in Modesto with a starting date still to be determined, the program is designed for health care professionals with little or no formal skills in Spanish. The necessary language and vocabulary to facilitate better communication between health care providers and the growing Spanish-speaking community will be provided at the classes. Using readings, exercises, and activities, the course integrates Spanish medical vocabulary, grammar, and colloquial terms that public health workers, administrative support personnel, nurses, doctors, dentists, and medical technicians need most.
