"Seussical the Musical," a production by the Stanislaus County Office of Education's YES (Youth Entertainment Exchange) Company featuring the Dr. Seuss characters, will take place in the Mainstage Theatre at California State Unversity, Stanislaus in 10 performances, starting on August 10.

Show times are at 7 p.m. on August 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18 and at 2 p.m. on August 12, 18, and 19. Tickets, which are available two hours prior to each performance in the CSU Stanislaus Theatre Building box office, are $20 for prime seating, $10 general admission, and $8 for children 12 and under. The production features more than 80 students from nearly 40 Stanislaus County schools who will bring the beloved books of Dr. Seuss to life in this whimsical mix of rhythm and rhyme. Through an early high school program, YES Company students were enrolled in a CSU Stanislaus summer session Theatre Workshop class. Under the direction of retired Theatre Professor Noble Dinse, Theatre Department Chair Clay Everett, and scene shop supervisor Shannon Wren, students helped create the production's scenery and props.

In addition, special programs are scheduled prior to a pair of the evening the productions. On Sunday, August 12, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. outside the Mainstage Theatre, a Musical Theatre Exploratorium will feature opportunities to meet the Dr. Seuss characters and see interactive theatrical activities designed for severely handicapped youths. A donor recognition reception and silent auction is scheduled for Saturday, August 18, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Mainstage Theatre lobby.
