A group of management professionals who are expected to be highly sought after in the business world is ready to celebrate the completion of a rigorous and challenging higher education degree goal.

California State University, Stanislaus will hold a reception for its second cohort of 28 Executive Master of Business Administration degree recipients on Saturday, September 12 at the CSU Stanislaus-Stockton Center in University Park.

Participants in the Stockton sessions, co-sponsored in a partnership with Grupe Commercial Co. and the second of the highly popular program’s four cohorts that began in fall 2008, are completing the 15-month, 36-unit session that enhances their management skills and qualifies them for promotions and highly coveted jobs. The first cohort, which held classes in Tracy where a fifth cohort will start classes September 26, graduated in December 2008.

“Graduates of the Executive MBA program are sought after in today’s competitive job market because they have the professional skills that employers are looking for when it comes to filling top management jobs,” CSU Stanislaus President Hamid Shirvani said. “We are pleased to be able to offer academic programs like the Executive MBA that meet workforce needs of the region.”

Part of the degree requirement calls for students to complete an extensive “final project.” A number of students worked on projects with the partnering Grupe Company, researching a variety of topics, including solar energy and green building projects. In addition, a team of students partnered with the program’s Associate Director Dr. Ashour Badal of the College of Business Administration faculty to develop a law enforcement training module that the State Department of Justice is adopting for statewide use.

Under the direction of the College of Business Administration and administered through the University’s Office of Extended Education, the EMBA program attracts students from all over Northern and Central California. EMBA cohort sessions are under way in Turlock and Modesto, and applications are being accepted for the September 26 startup of the Tracy cohort.
