TURLOCK, Calif. — Oct. 8, 2012 — California State University, Stanislaus, continues to be recognized among the best colleges and universities in the United States.
For the seventh consecutive year, CSU Stanislaus is featured in the 2013 edition of the Princeton Review's "The Best 377 Colleges," recognizing it as one of the country's top institutions for undergraduate education. The university was also named one of the best universities in the west by U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges 2013, published Sept. 12. This is the 17th year the university has received this honor.
Only 15 percent of America’s four-year colleges are profiled in the Princeton Review's flagship higher education guide. It includes detailed profiles of the colleges, plus ranking lists of top 20 schools in 62 categories based on surveys of students attending the colleges. Additionally, the Princeton Review recognized CSU Stanislaus as one of the best 121 colleges in the west. Collectively, schools on the regional best lists represent just 25 percent of four-year colleges in the U.S.
In speaking of the selection process, senior vice president and publisher Robert Franek stated, “Each of our 377 best colleges offers outstanding academics. We don't rank them 1 to 377, because they differ widely in their program offerings and campus culture, and that is their strength. Our goal is not to crown one college 'best' overall, but to help applicants find and get into the college best for them."
For its rankings, U.S. News & World Report gathers data in 16 areas related to academic excellence, including peer assessment; retention and graduation of students; faculty resources; student selectivity; financial resources; and alumni giving.
