California State University, Stanislaus will carry a live television broadcast featuring election results for Stanislaus County as well as state races and ballot issues on Tuesday, November 7.

“Decision 2006” will air from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. on Charter cable channels 2 and 14, Comcast Channel 26, and Modesto TV station KAZV which broadcasts over the air on Channel 14 as well as on Channel 195 on the Comcast system. Coverage will also be streamed to the Internet on Modestoview.com.

CSU Stanislaus is partnering with The Modesto Bee, which is providing candidate background information, and Modesto’s Community Media Network public access channel to carry the broadcast. Others providing support include CSU Stanislaus Mediated & Distance Learning, Politics and Public Administration, and Communication Studies departments, CSU Stanislaus President Hamid Shirvani, Final Cut Media, Central Valley Report, KAZV-TV, and Modestoview.com.

Appearing on the program and monitoring the election results will be the host, CSU Stanislaus student Phannary Pen, who will be joined by Dr. Larry Giventer, Professor of Politics and Public Administration at CSU Stanislaus, and Randy Siefkin, a former Professor of Political Science at Modesto Junior College and political campaign consultant. They will report results on city and county races and ballot measures in Stanislaus County as well as vote counts for the regional state Senate and Assembly and U.S. Congress seats. Reports will also be filed from the Stanislaus County Elections Office in Modesto.

The CSU Stanislaus Educational and Government Television Studio, located in the University’s Television/Distance Learning Center in Demergasso-Bava Hall, has been in operation since February 2004 as part of a grant program partnership with the City of Turlock. The studio is used for a variety of University and community production, editing, filming, and taping projects.
