Tim Lynch has been appointed associate vice president for communications and public affairs, effective Aug. 25. He comes to California State University, Stanislaus from Cal Poly Pomona, where he worked for five years as a senior communications coordinator in the public affairs office. His most recent assignments there included editing the university’s magazines and coordinating advancement communications.

Before arriving at Cal Poly Pomona, Lynch worked for nearly 20 years at the Los Angeles Times, where he was a senior copy chief overseeing part of the front page and managing copy editors on the foreign and national desks.

“Tim’s enthusiasm for the work we undertake here at CSU Stanislaus will serve the University well,” said Shirley Pok, vice president for University Advancement. “He will oversee the University’s communications and public affairs team, charged with developing an integrated marketing plan that brings together Web, social media, communications, media relations, campaign communications, branding, legislative affairs and advocacy. I am pleased to welcome Tim to the Division of University Advancement, where every member of the team works to articulate the University’s distinction and promote engagement for student success.”

Lynch said he is looking forward to immersing himself in the University as well as the community it serves.

“I did my homework and saw that Stanislaus is a real comer in the CSU system,” Lynch said, explaining his move from Southern California, where he has deep family and professional roots. “The opportunity to play a role in advancing this University was simply too good to pass up.”
