The California State University, Stanislaus Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership degree program, heading into its second year, is preparing to accept a third cohort of candidates in Stockton, starting in June 2010. Four information sessions on the program are scheduled from December 2 through February 24.
Applications are now being accepted and a series of four one-hour information sessions have been scheduled. They include 5 p.m. Wednesday, December 2 in Room 126 of the Shima Center at San Joaquin Delta College, 5 p.m. Wednesday, December 9 in Room 302 of Demergasso-Bava Hall on the University’s Turlock campus, 5 p.m. Tuesday, January 12 in the Modesto Junior College Staff Dining Room, and 5 p.m. Wednesday, February 24 in the Chartville 1 Room of the Educational Services Building at the San Joaquin County Office of Education in Stockton.
The priority deadline for applications is Monday, February 15, 2010.
Designed for educators interested in earning a doctorate to advance their careers in education, the groundbreaking program opened in September 2008 and now has 40 students enrolled in the two cohorts. The three-year program is designed to meet the need for highly trained educational leaders in the Central Valley and Sierra foothills. Two specializations are offered -- one in leadership for preschool to grade 12 schools and the other for community college leadership.
Classes are held in the evenings to accommodate working professionals. Many of the courses are designed so that a significant portion of class requirements can be fulfilled online.
Dr. Jim Riggs, Interim Director and Professor of Advanced Studies in Education, can be contacted for information by e-mail at jriggs1@csustan.edu, or by phone at (209) 667-3364 or (209) 664-6789.
