From California State University Chancellor Timothy P. White:
“The entire California State University is deeply saddened tonight as information is unfolding about the lives lost and injuries sustained in a horrific accident involving a bus in route to Humboldt State. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends directly affected, along with the heroic first responders. The Humboldt and Chico State campuses — where many of the injured have been taken — are fully mobilized throughout this evening and into the days ahead as we attend to those needing support and assistance.”
From CSU Stanislaus President Joseph F. Sheley:
“I was deeply saddened to learn of the horrible accident that occurred last night on Interstate 5. The sudden loss of promising young students, dedicated staff and others is a stark reminder of how precious and precarious life truly is. That these high school students were traveling through the northern Central Valley, on their way to visit Humboldt State University, hits particularly close to home. On a day of such immense grief, our hearts are with all who were affected by this tragedy, including the victims, their loved ones and our colleagues in the CSU system.”
