California State University, Stanislaus History Professor Samuel Regalado will appear in a special up-coming documentary on ESPN about Los Angeles Dodgers' Mexican pitching sensation Fernando Valenzuela.

Dr. Regalado is recognized for his expertise on the impact of Latin baseball players in American professional baseball. Valenzuela was prominently featured in Dr. Regalado’s book "Viva Baseball: Latin Major Leaguers and their Special Hunger."

The documentary "Fernando Nation" follows Valenzuela as he inspires fans nationwide and helps reunite a community that was devastated when Dodger Stadium was built in Chavez Ravine. Nicknamed “El Toro,” Valenzuela burst onto the prime-time stage and showed us all that the American dream is not reserved for those born on U.S. soil.
