California State University, Stanislaus student Wendy Olmstead, a graduate student from Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Canada, who is pursuing her master's degree in Ecology and Sustainability, has been selected by the Phi Kappa Phi academic honor society to attend its annual national convention from August 9-12 in Orlando, Florida.

Currently working in the University's Agricultural Studies Department as an administrative support coordinator and a resident of Escalon, Olmstead was one of 10 Phi Kappa Phi chapter student vice presidents selected from the society's West Region to receive an all-expenses paid trip to the convention. She was selected to serve on the executive committee of the CSU Stanislaus Phi Kappa Phi Chapter as student vice president after being inducted into the society in May. Olmstead received her bachelor's degree in Agricultural Studies at CSU Stanislaus in June.

Since coming to the area as an international student, Olmstead has excelled academically at CSU Stanislaus and Modesto Junior College while also getting involved in a number of volunteer programs. She serves as adviser to the CSU Stanislaus Agriculture Ambassadors Club while tutoring and mentoring fellow students, judges at area agricultural programs, coaches youth sports, and teaches at her church.
