Russell Giambelluca, Vice President for Business and Finance at CSU Stanislaus, has announced he will retire at the end of 2014. A search for a new vice president will begin soon, President Joseph F. Sheley wrote in an email to the campus.

Giambelluca arrived at CSU Stanislaus in 2009, just as the state’s financial situation was worsening. He worked to ensure the University’s finances were well managed, that it carried no serious structural deficit and that the CSU Stanislaus Foundation investments were stabilized so that scholarships could still be awarded to students.

Sheley praised Giambelluca’s accomplishments at CSU Stanislaus and said he has worked well with a varied campus community.

“What I have most enjoyed while working with him is that his interests extend well beyond those of the traditional campus business officer,” Sheley said. “He enjoys discussions with faculty members about research. He likes to talk shop with staff members. He relates well to and enjoys the respect of the community.”
