Students who intend to apply for fall 2009 admission as first-time freshmen at California State University, Stanislaus are strongly encouraged to get their applications in by November 30. With California State University enrollment numbers being limited due to the state budget shortfall, prospective students who get into the application pool early stand a much better chance of gaining a spot at CSU Stanislaus.

Eligible students who apply during the California State University priority application period between October 1 and November 30 will have the inside track to fall 2009 admission, University officials note. The final closing deadline for first-time freshmen at CSU Stanislaus is February 1.

One of the ways for students to get a step up on the application deadline and check out the CSU Stanislaus campus at the same time is to attend the annual Preview Day on Saturday, October 18. Check-in begins at 8 a.m. and the program continues through 1 p.m. The open house provides prospective students and their family members with the opportunity to talk with faculty and the University’s six college deans, attend workshops that include details on the application process, and tour the campus. Preview Day will also include admission sessions for those students who have prepared their application information in advance. KHOP-95.1 FM radio will be on campus from 10 a.m. to noon to broadcast live during the festivities.

“It’s absolutely critical that students get their applications in early this year due to the enrollment limitations that the University is experiencing due to California’s budget shortfall,” said Roger Pugh, Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management Services. “At Preview Day, students can bring their families along, check out the campus, talk to faculty, and have their application processed for admission all in the same day.”

More information about Preview Day is on the University Web site at www.csustan.edu/admissions/Events/Previewday.html. Students can find information and apply online at www.csumentor.edu. For more information, call CSU Stanislaus Student Outreach at (209) 667-3070.

The application deadlines do not apply to students transferring to the CSU from community colleges, those seeking teacher credentials, or graduate program candidates.
