New appointee brings extensive experience in program development, assessment, curriculum, and program accreditation.
California State University (CSU), Stanislaus has announced the appointment of Dr. Reza Kamali to the position of dean of the College of Natural Sciences, effective January 1, 2012. The college, which houses seven departments including chemistry, cognitive studies, biological sciences and others, has been under the interim leadership of Dr. Robert Marino.
Dr. Kamali currently serves as the dean for the School of Science and Technology at Cameron University in Lawton, OK. Prior to joining Cameron University, he served as department head and professor in the Department of Computer Information Technology and Graphics at Purdue University Calumet, Hammond, IN. Dr. Kamali has held increasingly responsible administrative positions in higher education and has extensive experience in program development, assessment, curriculum, accreditation, and the faculty reappointment, promotion and tenure (RPT) process.
“Reza Kamali is an experienced dean who has had significant success in all of his previous administrative positions,” said CSU Stanislaus Provost James Strong. “He brings a high energy level, an entrepreneurial and innovative mindset and excellent leadership skills. He will greatly advance the mission of the College.”
Dr. Kamali holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Drexel University, an M.S. in Mathematical Sciences from the University of Arkansas, an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Arkansas, and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Tehran.
