Douglas Dawes, who has vast experience as a financial officer in the public and private sectors, will join CSU Stanislaus as Vice President for Business and Finance.

Dawes comes to the University from Valley City State in North Dakota, where he has served as vice president for business affairs since January 2012. As the chief financial officer, he oversaw more than $40 million in campus projects, including the construction of the first new building in 40 years.

Prior to his time at Valley City State, Dawes was the director and manager of business services at Utah State University. He worked in the private sector as the CFO for Buena Vista Homes in Arizona and also worked in financial reporting and analysis for the Ford Motor Company in Michigan and New Jersey.

Dawes is a licensed certified public accountant and holds a Master of Science in Accounting and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Brigham Young University.

Dawes succeeds Russ Giambelluca, who retired in December. The position was filled on an interim basis by Julie Benevedes, who is returning to her role as associate vice president, financial services.
