Turlock’s children need a miracle this holiday season.
For 15 years, a non-profit alliance of Turlock-based organizations called Turlock Together has helped Santa fill the space below Christmas trees in low-income Turlock residents’ homes.
The need is greater than ever before and time is ticking. About 6,000 new toys are needed this year. Thus far, Turlock Together only has 500. The alliance hopes to receive the rest within 21 calendar days, when the gifts will be collected and sorted for distribution.
Responding to the need, CSU Stanislaus is launching a campus-wide effort to help ensure children of families without the means to buy gifts will have something to unwrap on Christmas morning. Everyone who is able to contribute a new unwrapped toy for children aged 0 to 12 years is invited to deposit their gifts in one of the barrels placed throughout campus.
WHAT: The Turlock Together toy drive is collecting new, unwrapped toys for children aged 0 to 12.
WHY: CSU Stanislaus is joining this effort because Turlock’s children are depending on the generosity of the entire community.
HOW: Place gifts in one of six blue toy barrels on campus.
WHERE: Barrels can be found in the Mary Stuart Rogers Building, room180; the Tutoring Center in the Library; Naraghi Hall, room 164; College of Business, room 202; the lobby of the Faculty Development Center; the Student Union, room 103.
WHEN: There is no time to waste! The campus-wide effort ends Dec. 10.
WHO: Turlock Together is a voluntary cooperation of local businesses, non-profits, schools, service clubs, ministries and community members who annually work together to collect and distribute food and toys to families in need during the holiday season.
