Dr. James Strong
California State University, Stanislaus President Hamid Shirvani announced the appointment of Dr. James Strong as the new Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs on Wednesday.

“Please join me in welcoming Dr. James Strong to our community,” President Shirvani said. “Dr. Strong has an extensive background in academic leadership and is committed to providing positive leadership for faculty, staff and students by building a motivating culture through constant communication and consultation.”
 
“Long-term student success, transparency, data sharing and a commitment to shared governance have always been an integral part of my success as an academic leader,” Dr. Strong said.
 
Dr. Strong received his Ph.D. in Marketing and Organizational Behavior from Drexel University, a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Toledo, and his B.A. degree in English from Lafayette College.
 
Dr. Strong is currently Dean of the College of Business and Public Policy at CSU Dominguez Hills where he has served since 2003.  Prior to his current position, Dr. Strong served as Associate Dean of the College of Business Administration at The University of Akron.  In addition to his twelve years of administrative experience in higher education, Dr. Strong has an outstanding teaching and publication record achieved during three years as an assistant professor at rowan University and 14 years rising through the professoriate at the University of Akron. He also has eight years of management experience in the private sector.  

He will begin his post as Provost on May 3, 2010.
