When: 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28

Where: East Lake Ranch, 14011 East Ave., Turlock

Details: The CSU Stanislaus Center for Portuguese Studies is pleased to announce a special presentation and reception with Chef Manuel Azevedo, owner and chef of Sonoma’s top-rated LaSalette Restaurant (2013 Bib Gourmand recipient) and the newly opened Café Lucia in Healdsburg, and author of the LaSalette Cookbook.

The cookbook contains recipes from LaSalette’s exciting seasonal menus that encapsulate Chef Azevedo’s “Cozinha Nova Portuguesa,” or new Portuguese cuisine, which celebrates the diverse flavors of Portugal while promoting the use of local, seasonal ingredients. The LaSalette Cookbook provides readers with endless menu combinations, stunning photographs and a section devoted to recipes for Portuguese base flavorings to encourage home chefs to take their own experimental approach to cooking.

Admission is free for the presentation and reception, and copies of the cookbook will be available for purchase. Contact Elmano Costa, director of the Center for Portuguese Studies, at (209) 667-3638 or ecosta@csustan.edu for more information.
