Kaiser Permanente’s School of Allied Health Sciences to offer phlebotomy, radiography and sonography programs starting this year at CSU Stanislaus Stockton Center at University Park
California State University (CSU) Stanislaus and the Kaiser Permanente School of Allied Health Sciences (KPSAHS) have initiated a unique program that will offer courses in phlebotomy, radiography and sonography starting this year at the CSU Stanislaus Stockton Center at University Park. Demand is high regionally and statewide for allied health services, and is expected to increase significantly in the coming years.
“The collaboration between CSU Stanislaus and the Kaiser Permanente School of Allied Health Sciences significantly improves access to health care education for Central Valley students and addresses critical workforce shortages facing Stockton and surrounding cities,” said CSU Stanislaus President Hamid Shirvani.
Kaiser Permanente’s School of Allied Health Sciences (KPSAHS), which is located in Richmond, Calif., will operate the branch classes for these courses in Stockton. “We have seen a significant increase in the number of students who come from the Central Valley to our Richmond campus,” said Connie Wilson, vice president of Human Resources for The Permanente Medical Group, which operates the school. “By expanding our class offerings to the Central Valley, we will increase access for local students and ultimately help increase the number of allied health professionals in the area.”
The phlebotomy classes will begin July 25 at the CSU Stanislaus Stockton Center campus; radiography and sonography programs will start later this year. The campus is located at University Park in the heart of Stockton’s historic Magnolia district. The physical address is 612 East Magnolia Street, Stockton, CA 95202.
CSU Stanislaus and Grupe Commercial have renovated classrooms. “At a time when state education funds are limited, we are proud to be a part of an innovative team that will help meet the growing need for health-care professionals in the Central Valley,” said Grupe Commercial President Kevin Huber.
