What: Phi Kappa Phi Week, honoring new initiates into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, CSU Stanislaus, Chapter 282

Details: The campus community and public are invited to two events during Phi Kappa Phi week at CSU Stanislaus.

From 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. April 30 in the South Dining Room, Luann Alemao-Johnson will speak on "Etiquette in the 21st Century — Use It or Lose It Opportunities." Named Entrepreneur of the Year by the National Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, the author, educator, local TV host and trainer will teach students and other attendees about how to boost their marketability for graduate school and their careers.

From noon to 1 p.m. May 2 in the Studio Theater (D40), Chicago-based actor Dan Gately will speak on his role as Macbeth in Shakespeare Under the Stars. Gately will also field questions and discuss the logistics and nuances of staging the outdoor production, which will be held nightly at CSU Stanislaus from April 30 to May 5 and is in its fourth year at the university.

The week will culminate with a private initiation ceremony May 3 for Phi Kappa Phi initiates and their families. Phi Kappa Phi recognizes and encourages superior scholarship in all academic disciplines. Admission to the honor society is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval in accordance with the bylaws of both the chapter and the national society.
