The 2010 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men’s and Women’s Soccer Championships have been awarded to Cal State Stanislaus for the second year in a row, conference commissioner Robert J. Hiegert announced on Thursday.
The eight-team event will be contested November 5-7 at two-year old Warrior Stadium on the campus of Cal State Stanislaus in Turlock. The championship format calls for two men’s and women’s semifinal games to be played on Friday, Nov. 5 with the championship contests slated for Sunday, Nov. 7.
“Cal State Stanislaus did an outstanding job hosting the tournament a year ago and the conference membership took notice of their hard work to stage a first-class championship,” Hiegert said. “Turlock is centrally located within the state providing a relatively convenient trip for all the participating programs.
“The membership is confident that Cal State Stanislaus will once again put on another quality event at its outstanding venue and provide a positive experience for the participating student-athletes,” Hiegert added.
“We are honored to once again host the championship event,” Cal State Stanislaus President Hamid Shirvani said. “The selection is a tribute to the dedication of our coaches, faculty, staff and community. We look forward to showcasing our outstanding facility and welcoming student-athletes and their families and friends to our campus.”
Warrior Stadium, with a listed capacity of 2,100, is part of the $16.1 million Student Recreation Complex that officially opened in August of 2009.
Cal State Stanislaus will be hosting the CCAA Championships for the third time, and the event will be held in Northern California for the fifth time since the conference began sponsoring a postseason tournament in 1999.
Cal State Dominguez Hills is the defending men’s champion while Cal State L.A. captured the women’s title for the first time in program history in 2009.
Tickets to the tournament will be available beginning October 4 by contacting the Cal State Stanislaus ticket office or visiting www.warriorathletics.com.
Two-day tournament passes are $15 for general admission, $8 for students and seniors, and $3 for children under 12. Single-day tickets are $8 for general admission, $5 for students and seniors, and $2 for children under 12.
