Casey Stephenson
Capping off a memorable season that concluded with a first-ever appearance in the national championship tournament, the Warrior softball team finished fifth in the nation and designated player Casey Stephenson was named to the NCAA Division II Softball Championship All-Tournament team.

Stephenson, who batted .430 in the tournament, hit two homers and drove in all three runs in Cal State Stanislaus' first game of the tournament in Akron, Ohio, a 3-0 win over Nebraska-Omaha on May 17. In Saturday's (May 19) loss to No.1 Columbus State, Stephenson's sacrifice fly scored the Warriors' only run. The Warriors lost to eventual national champion Southern Illinois-Edwardsville on Friday (May 18) in a very closely contested 1-0 game.

Stephenson had a memorable post-season, driving in teammate Megan Law with the only run on a two-out single in the bottom of the sixth inning that gave the Warriors a 1-0 victory over Seattle University on the home field May 14 for the West Region title that propelled the team into the national tournament.

"Our softball team showed it could compete with the nation's best by winning the first game and narrowly losing the second game to the eventual champions," CSU Stanislaus Coach Jan Schefkowitz said. "Our players were outstanding and in particular, Casey Stephenson. I am very proud of the Warriors who worked tirelessly the entire season to enable us to finish the season at the Division II Championships."
