The BFA Solo Gallery at Stan State Art Space is thrilled to announce the BFA Solo Exhibition When Notes Turn to Color by Bachelor of Fine Arts candidate Ivana Carvellida from April 29- May 1st. An opening reception will take place April 31st from 4:00p.m. - 6:00p.m. with an artist talk at 4:30 p.m.

In essence, my work builds stacked musical notes that fuse resin with a variety of materials, creating a stage for a conversation between light, weight, surface, and structure. I borrow techniques from metalwork and glass traditions and incorporate them with resin. I treat musical notes like characters in play, composing and arranging them to build multi-tiered forms. Each objects relates to different moments within the music I listen to, translating shifts in mood and rhythm into a physical form.

Ivy Carvellida is a sculptor who translates music and emotion into physical form. Her work centers on rhythm bodies, clusters of translucent resin and fluid color that echo musical notes while shifting with light. This exhibition showcases stacks and arranges these elements to translate changes in mood and rhythm into three-dimensional objects.
