He lives and works in San Francisco, with a studio at the decommissioned Hunters Point Naval Shipyard, now home to a 250-strong artist community. In 40 years of full-time studio practice, Hersh has had 75 solo exhibitions and participated in 250 group shows. His work is in the collection of museums, foundations, universities, corporate and private collections worldwide.
Hersh describes the exhibition to structure / a structure:
"This exhibit highlights my work from the last ten years. Within the broad category of geometric abstraction, the exhibit will show the development from grid based two dimensional paintings to wall sculpture that embody structure as a noun and a verb. The work is executed with acrylic paint on shaped birch panels, some of which have exposed basswood framework."
