Join us for a symposium exploring the travels and chronicles of Elias al-Musili (1668–1692), a Chaldean Catholic priest from Baghdad who authored the oldest known Arabic-language account of the Americas. Featuring presentations by Assyrian author Weam Namou and Dr. Hugo López Chavolla, the event examines the historical and cultural significance of his journeys across Latin America and beyond.

Sponsored by the Latin American Studies Program and the Sarguis Modern Assyrian Heritage Project, in association with the College of the Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences.
