Establishing a Culture of CARE
This training is grounded in the Culture of CARE (Compassion, Awareness, Respect, & Empathy) framework and explores the incorporation of culturally relevant pedagogical and organizational practices. We will dive into the various elements of the framework with a focus on supporting LGBTQ+ students and promoting an inclusive curriculum and school environment. We also consider explicit and implicit bias, how to avoid microaggressions, and best practices for working with this student population. The framework equips educators with strategies that help them envision themselves as positive change agents in their own school settings.
