Meet The Board
The Student Center Board of Directors is the governing board of the Student Center. The purpose of the Board is to develop policies and procedures for the effective conduct and management of the Student Center programs, facilities and services. This Board promotes services and events that enhance the student experience by advising in matters related to the Student Center.
The Student Center Board of Directors has fifteen voting members including:
- SC Board Chair
- SC Vice Chair
- SC Vice Chair of Finance
- 6 Student Directors
- 1 Faculty Representative
- 1 Alumni Representative
- 1 designee of the University President
- 1 Business & Finance Representative
- 1 outside Community Representative
- 1 Associated Students Inc. (ASI) representative
The members of the Board of Directors are selected for the academic year, and all student seats become vacant at the end of each year. Students currently serving on the Board must submit an application to be considered for another term.

Relaxation Room!
Why did you join the SC Board of Directors?
I joined the SC Board of Directors because I wanted to be more involved in the conversation that create change and advocates for students. Being a part of the Board allows me to collaborate with passionate student leaders who all share the same goal of working towards high-quality services, spaces, and programs to enhance the student experience. I’m excited for another year to ensure students have quality services, programs, and spaces to feel supported throughout their college career!

What is your favorite space or service in the Student Center?
One of my favorite services in the Student Center is the free Scantrons and pencils you can get at the Service Desk. While it's not something you'll need every day, it's super convenient to have when exam season comes around. Students can pick up one free Scantron and pencil each day, so if you ever forget one or need one last minute, they are available to all students.
Why did you join the SC Board of Directors?
The reason I joined the Student Center Board of Directors is because, ever since my freshman year, I found myself spending a lot of time in the Student Center. Whether it was between classes or just hanging out with friends, it quickly became one of my favorite places on campus. I thought joining the Board would be a great way to get more involved since I was already in the building almost every day. Now that I'm on the Board of Directors, I have the opportunity to help shape what happens in the building and bring new ideas that can make the Student Center an even better place for students

I joined the Student Center Board of Directors because I wanted to be more involved in creating positive change and advocating for students on campus. I’m passionate about making sure student voices are heard and helping improve the services, programs, and spaces offered by the Student Center. Being on the Board gives me the opportunity to represent fellow students and see my ideas come to life in ways that positively impact the student experience!

What is your favorite space or service in the Student Center?
The SC Pool hall is my favorite location because it is a great way to connect with classmates, make new friends and enjoy fun or competitive gaming. I have used this space a lot between classes, after meetings, and any time I am on campus to relax and network.
Why did you join the SC Board of Directors?
I joined the SC Board of Directors to make a direct impact within the Student Center. Advocating for student parents has been a key part of my development as I use my lens to make decisions, create initiatives, and support our population of student parents.

SC Board Sponsored Events
The Board of Directors hosts several sponsored events each semester to welcome students, promote the Student Center, and celebrate students! See the events below which highlight semesterly or yearly events!
Each semester, the SC Board of Directors collaborates with ASI Student Government to serve coffee and pancakes for students returning to classes in the Fall and Spring semesters. This has become a semesterly tradition for the ASI & SC student leaders!

SC Chair's Message
Hello Warriors!
My name is Jelaine Esguerra, and I am honored to serve a third term as Chair of the Student Center Board of Directors this year. As a student at Stan State, I know how important it is to have spaces where you feel welcomed, supported, and connected. The Student Center serves as the hub of campus life, where students can come together to engage, empower, and inspire one another. Through its facilities, programs, and services, the Student Center is committed to enhancing the student experience and creating opportunities for students to build community and make lasting memories.
It is a privilege to work alongside a dedicated team of student leaders and staff who advocate for the needs of our Turlock and Stockton campus communities. This year's Student Center Executive Team includes myself as Chair, Manny Delgadillo, Vice Chair, and Melanie Ovrahim, Vice Chair of Finance. Together, we are excited to continue working on initiatives that improve the student experience and ensure the Student Center remains a place where students feel supported and heard.
When I first joined the SC Board, I was looking for a way to make a difference on campus. Three terms later, I am grateful for the opportunity to continue advocating for students, listening to their needs, and helping create a campus where everyone feels they belong. Serving on the Board has allowed me to advocate for students, listen to their needs, and work alongside others to create positive change.
I encourage you to make the most of your time at Stan State. Attend events, join organizations, grow your connections, and take advantage of the many resources available to you. College is about more than earning a degree; it's about building experiences, relationships, and memories that will stay with you long after you graduate.
I look forward to another year of listening, learning, and working together to make the Student Center a place where every Warrior feels welcomed and supported.
