University Police Department Lieutenant Adam Deniz has received a systemwide Meritorious Service Award from the California State University in recognition of his leadership and investigative work in resolving the largest burglary case in Stanislaus State’s history.
The case began with a reported burglary at Demergasso-Bava Hall in early 2024 and involved a complex, months-long investigation that led to multiple arrests, the recovery of stolen University property and improvements to campus security.
Over the course of the investigation, Deniz dedicated extensive time and expertise to identifying suspects, securing evidence and coordinating with campus partners. His work resulted in multiple arrest and search warrants and the recovery of hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of stolen property. Firearms discovered during the investigation were also removed, reducing potential threats to campus safety.
In addition to resolving the case, Deniz collaborated with Facilities Management to strengthen security at Demergasso-Bava Hall. Those efforts included physical and electronic access upgrades designed to help prevent future incidents.
“His exceptional dedication, investigative prowess and tenacity in solving the largest burglary case in the history of Stanislaus State exemplify the highest standards of law enforcement professionalism,” said Steve Olson, interim chief of police. “Lieutenant Deniz’s work safeguarded university assets and reinforced community safety.”
