Who is Invited

CSU Faculty & Staff

On behalf of Safety & Risk Management, we would like to cordially invite you to attend this California State University Risk Management Authority (CSURMA) grant-funded Safety and Risk forum held in person here on our campus on Dec. 19 and 20. This forum is being presented by Vance Kekoa, an exposure control specialist from CSU San Marcos, and a 30-year professional safety consultant for Research & Development and biotechnology firms. There is no cost to attend.

This bilateral forum is a unique opportunity for CSU faculty, safety managers, and ISTs to reevaluate the effectiveness of procedural safety in labs. These presentations will include an overview of laboratory hazard assessment, safety equipment, process safety, resources, and delivery platforms for students and student employees. The goal is to elevate procedural integrity and vigilance to an acceptable level of risk every campus stakeholder can support when challenged.

Track 1 Lab-Scale Response

Track 1 will focus on the dynamics of spill response in the laboratory with an in-lab procedural review utilizing an actual wet spill simulation. Do you know what the most toxic compound is in your chemical inventory at the moment? What is the worst location or time of day to contend with a chemical spill? What exactly is in each spill kit in the labs? Are the spill kits all the same?

Track 2 Practices that Shape Acceptable Risk in Academic Labs

This interactive session is an opportunity to examine if current lab practices are representative of individual and campus leadership risk tolerances. Are these perceptions of risk in parallel? Should they be?

Registration is required. Please register by Dec. 9, 2022. Space is limited for Track 1.

We look forward to seeing you at this unprecedented Safety-Risk Forum held in Naraghi Hall at Stanislaus State on Dec. 19 and 20. Parking will be enforced.
