Patrick D. Anderson will deliver two academic presentations hosted by the Department of Philosophy.

On the first day, he will present a research lecture titled “Anticolonialism Goes to the Movies: Ontology, Semiotics, and the Radical Side of Hollywood Film.” The talk will examine anticolonial theory as a methodological framework for interpreting contemporary cinema, drawing on major figures in anticolonial thought and applying semiotic analysis to selected films.

On the second day, he will give a film-based presentation centered on Get Out. The session will feature selected clips from the film (not a full screening), accompanied by scholarly commentary and critical discussion. Anderson will provide an overview of existing interpretations of the film and will offer an original philosophical analysis, followed by audience discussion.
