California State University (CSU) Stanislaus College of Education student Shannon White was honored in March as the 2011 Outstanding Young Woman by the Stanislaus County Commission for Women.
The California State (CSU) University Child Development Center will host a children’s festival on Saturday, April 16 from 10 a.m. to 12:00 noon on the Main Stage Theatre Lawn. The event is free and open to the public.

The event takes place during the Week of the Young Child, and will feature family-friendly activities, games, and snacks. The festival is being coordinated by the university’s Child Development Center, a licensed laboratory preschool established to train University students in child development theory, program design, and research.

On Thursday, April 7, California State University (CSU) Stanislaus Professor of Geology Horacio Ferriz will be demonstrating his innovative use of media in instruction. The presentation will take place in the South Dining Hall from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. and again from 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, April 6, the California State University (CSU) Stanislaus Troops to College Committee, in partnership with the American Red Cross, will present “Welcome & Reintegration for Veterans and their Families.” Sheila Anglese-Dail, MSW – Family Advocacy Program Manager will give the presentation. Topics will range from coping with PTSD to fitting in on a college campus. The program will take place from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the South Dining Hall on the CSU Stanislaus Turlock campus.
A group of CSU Stanislaus computer science students and faculty plan to attend the 2011 Richard Tapia Celebration of Diversity in Computing Conference scheduled to take place in San Francisco April 3 – 5. During the conference, the juniors and seniors will have the opportunity to meet students and professionals in technology fields, from all over the world. A number of well-known professionals, including some who helped build the Bing search engine, a Google executive, and specialists in robotics and social networking, are scheduled to speak.
