Center for Excellence in Graduate Education

Our mission is to provide graduate students at CSU Stanislaus with programs that enrich their graduate education experience and improve matriculation, retention, and graduation rates of master'€™s and doctoral students. The Center is funded through a U.S. Department of Education Title V grant, with a special interest in increasing enrollment and graduation of Hispanic and low-income students.

We aim to advance this mission through three primary approaches:

  • increased academic support and enhanced scholarly culture;
  • improved university-wide assessment of graduate education; and
  • increased engagement in graduate level community-based research and service learning.

Increased Academic Support and Enhanced Scholarly Culture

CEGE offers the following programs, with the aim of supporting graduate students in master's and doctoral programs from application through graduation.

  • Graduate Assistantships
  • Graduate Writing Residency Program
  • Workshops
  • Research Colloquia and Student Research Competitions
  • Travel Mini-grants

(See Programs for Students for more information.)

University-wide Assessment of Graduate Education

In collaboration with the Office of Institutional Research and in consultation with the Office of Assessment and Quality Assurance, CEGE is working to improve the university-wide graduate education assessment plan and to increase the precision by which we track and monitor graduate student progress from application through graduation.

Graduate Education Community-based Research and Service Learning

In collaboration with the Office of Service Learning, CEGE is supporting faculty from various graduate programs in community-based curricula and research projects for graduate students. These projects provide graduate students opportunities to gain real-world experience while providing valuable service to their community. (See Community-based Projects for more information.)
