Career Services

The mission of Career Services is to serve as a vital link between the academic preparation that takes place in the classroom and the transition to the workplace.

Career Services provides career services and associated advising to matriculating CSUS students (alumni may access online services, but are not eligible to receive advising services).  Before accessing advising services CSUS students will first be required to complete the Career Services Intake Sheet, then utilize printed or online resources through the ONLINE CAREER CENTER.

Career Appointments are only made for:

A) Help searching for a job or

B) Help choosing a major or career that matches my interests

You will be required to take at least two assessments from the Career Assessment Sites link in the left column before coming to your advising appointment.

If you’d like more information on effective interviewing, job search strategies, resume writing, cover letter writing, or planning for graduate school, informational guides are available through the Information & Resources link in the left column.

The most effective tool for writing resumes, cover letters, practicing interview skills, creating portfolios and even designing your own website is available to you FOR FREE by clicking the ONLINE CAREER CENTER button in the left column. Here is an introduction to help you navigate Optimal Resume.

Career Resource Library

The library contains a wide assortment of occupational literature, corporate information, books, videos, periodicals, graduate school material, current professional-level job announcements, and salary surveys. Announcements are also posted for volunteer and internship opportunities, as well as full-time and part-time, off-campus jobs. Computers with website access are provided, which enable students to conduct online job and salary research as part of their career planning strategy.

On-Campus Interviews with Employers

Twice a year, during the fall and spring semesters, employers from business, industry, and government visit our campus to recruit seniors and recent alumni for full-time, professional-level employment. Students are then able to sign-up for on-campus interviews with employers directly online. Meeting rooms are available at the Career Services Center for recruiters to conduct these important interviews on campus.
