Summer Arts at California State University, Stanislaus will open with a bang in the skies in July, starting with the Fantastic Fourth fireworks program and then moving on to the Annual Shakespeare Festival featuring a pair of theatre productions.

The Stanislaus POPS Band, under the direction of conductor Stuart Sims of the University's Music Department faculty, will kick off the 23rd Annual Fantastic Fourth activities at 7.30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4 in the Amphitheatre located near the corner of Crowell Road and Monte Vista Avenue in Turlock. Music will continue through the fireworks show, provided by Boom Boom Productions of Hayfork, which starts at dusk. Major sponsors of the program include County Bank, The Modesto Bee, Monte Vista Crossings, and the Turlock Convention & Visitors Bureau.

The Second Annual Shakespeare Festival by the CSU Stanislaus Theatre Department will feature "As You Like It" in Amphitheatre performances by University students and faculty on July 12-15, 19-22, and 26-29. Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. each evening, pre-show entertainment starts at 7:30 p.m., and the main performances begin at 8 p.m. Ticket prices are $10 general admission, $8 for University students, faculty, staff, and seniors, and $5 for children 16 and under.

"The Three Bully Goats Griff" is the featured Children's Theatre Production on July 21 and 28 at 10 a.m., noon, and 2 p.m. in the Mainstage Theatre. Ticket prices for the two Saturday performances are $4 general admission, $3 for University students, faculty, staff, and seniors, and $2 for children 12 and under.
