Some 60 students in Physical Education and Health were paired off to compete in eight wild and crazy events, including canoe races, obstacle courses, and this year's new event, the “Chin-Up Challenge” in the Fitness Center. Points were awarded for the top five places in each event, with the coveted prize of “PE Olympics Champions” being awarded to the top pair, Matt Sanders and Ryan Stevenson.
Faculty members running each event awarded prizes for their individual competition, some for those coming in first, and others for the pair that is most entertaining, said CSU Stanislaus PE faculty member Janice Herring, event coordinator. The now traditional event that helps students get acquainted at the start of the semester was started by now retired PE Professor and former Warriors baseball coach Jim Bowen who attended the event.
