California State University, Stanislaus will open its brand new science facility, Nora and Hashem Naraghi Hall of Science, for behind-the-scenes tours on Friday, September 21, from 4 to 6 p.m. Parking will be available in Lot 11 on campus off the University Circle entrance along Monte Vista Avenue.
The three-story, state-of-the art facility features 25 science and computer laboratories, 16 science project rooms, four classrooms, 58 faculty and department offices, an observatory, and an animal care complex. The $54.5 million building project took more than two years to construct, and faculty and staff have been completing the moving-in process over the past month.
The 110,000 square-foot building replaces the University's first science facility built in 1972, which is less than half the size of the new building and scheduled for eventual renovation. As an energy efficient "green building" designed with priorities on environmental innovations that benefit the occupants and surrounding community, the building is officially registered with the U.S. Green Building Council through its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program.
