Dr. Mark Grobner, who has been part of the California State University, Stanislaus community since 1997, has been appointed to the position of Interim Dean of the College of Science, effective immediately.

Grobner holds doctorate and master’s degrees in animal science from Oregon State University, and a bachelor’s in zoology from Colorado State University. He joined CSU Stanislaus as a part-time lecturer in 1997 and was appointed to the position of assistant professor in 2002. He was promoted to professor of biology in fall 2013.

Grobner has served as the chair of the Department of Biological Sciences for seven years. He was Speaker-elect of the Faculty in 2011-2012, and Speaker of the Faculty in 2012-2013. As speaker-elect and speaker he served on numerous committees, such as the enrollment management committee and the retention, promotion and tenure survey group. He worked on successful grant proposals that resulted in the Central Valley Math and Science Alliance and the Warriors on the Way program.

The search for a permanent dean will commence in fall 2015 with the objective of a permanent dean in place on July 1, 2016.
