Socio-Environmental Entrepreneurship as an Alternative Model of Development in the Colombian Amazon

Dr. German Ochoa, Professor of Economics at the Amazon Campus of the National University of Colombia will present a talk entitled, "Socio-Environmental Entrepreneurship as an Alternative Model of Development in the Colombian Amazon." Dr Ochoa has been teaching and conducting research in the Amazon Region for more than 25 years on diverse topics including ecological economics, global value chains, and ecotourism. More recently his research explores how local populations develop and market products using the biodiversity of the Amazon based on local knowledge and cultural values as an alternative for sustainable development. This event is presented by the Department of Anthropology and Geography & Environmental Resources.
