Stanislaus State’s efforts to keep campus community members connected, engaged and informed throughout the COVID-19 pandemic earned an Internal Communications Team of the Year award from Ragan Communications and PR Daily.

The University was recognized with Ragan’s Communicators of the Year and Rising Star Award. Stan State’s Communications and Public Affairs office partnered with Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, Admissions and Outreach, Athletics and student media to create an integrated university communications team devoted to keeping University constituents informed and involved as the COVID-19 crisis wore on.

“The team delivers fresh, relevant and targeted content using a mix of communication channels, providing weekly updates and clarifying ever-evolving safety measures and protocols, while keeping students, faculty and staff connected to campus as they continued to work from home,” according to the awards website.

From July 2021 to September 2021, the team produced 171 social media posts, more than seven video messages, 15 emails and numerous texts and launched the “Taking Care of You” student podcast. In addition to those projects, the team also launched a redesigned website, collaborated with the Office of Information Technology to refine the University’s mobile app and hosted “Next Up: Forward Thinking at Stan State,” a series of interactive forums, videos and articles featuring the work of faculty, students, staff and administrators who didn’t let the pandemic daunt their efforts.
