Summertime didn’t slow things down at Stanislaus State. The University kept abuzz with activity that included distinguished faculty awards, new rankings, inspiring student projects and more. Here are a few of the top news stories that happened over the summer:

Finance publication MONEY released its 2023 college ratings and once again named Stan State among the “Best Colleges in America,” giving it a rating that placed the University among the top third of the 736 four-year public and private colleges from across the nation that made the cut. In other rankings news, U.S. News & World Report ranked three Stan State graduate programs among the best in the country.

Dr. Michael Brodie, the first African American doctor for Stan State’s Student Health Center, shared his recollections of caring for students while touting the importance of education in a profile that included insights from his daughter, Professor of Social Work Kilolo Brodie-Crumsey.

Graduate student and art teacher Sarah Graham collaborated with students in Stan State’s Project Rebound program to create a metal sculpture of a phoenix featuring quotes from the program’s participants.

Professor and Rolland Starn Endowed Chair in Agriculture Oluwarotimi Odeh won a 2023-2024 Fulbright Scholar Award to teach abroad. Odeh will spend eight months in Nigeria where he will collaborate with host faculty members to teach agribusiness entrepreneurship.
