Jewel Rodriguez BFA Solo Exhibition

The University Galleries are proud to announce the BFA Solo Exhibition by graduating senior Jewel Rodriguez, titled A Belated Return. This solo exhibition will be held April 23 - 27, 2024 in the BFA Solo Gallery at the Stan State Art Space located at 226 N. First Street in downtown Turlock.

A reception for the exhibition will take place Tuesday, April 23 from 4:00--6:00 p.m.
Admission is free of charge for the exhibition and reception.
Gallery hours are 12:00 noon -- 5:00 p.m. Tuesday -- Saturday.

Jewel Rodriguez examines the complexities of childhood abuse, memory, and the environments in which trauma occurs. Recollecting her own past, she uses familiar domestic environments and childlike objects to dissect tumultuous family dynamics, girlhood, and the inevitable forced maturation that ensues. Through pungent color schemes, a fragmented sense of reality, and the duality of masculine and feminine materials, Jewel reclaims her own narrative, destabilizes the home as a safe space and therefore challenges an involuntary and destructive patriarchal presence many women and children are affected by.
