Queridos Guerreros and Fellow Warriors,

What a remarkable year it has been at Stanislaus State, one filled with transformation, triumph and the unmistakable pulse of possibility fueled by the power of cariño!

This fall, I had the profound honor of being formally invested as the 13th president of this extraordinary University, a moment that was filled with deep gratitude and joy. More importantly, it was a celebration of us, our shared commitment to student success, regional impact, and the power of public higher education to uplift generations.

From our growing Stockton Campus to our national recognition for academic quality, social mobility and value, the story of Stan State continues to unfold with intention. We are preparing tomorrow’s leaders in classrooms, on athletic fields and through service learning in communities across the Central Valley. Our students — many of whom are the first in their families to attend college — are not only transforming their lives, but they are also building a brighter future for their families and simultaneously, for the Central Valley.

In this issue, you’ll meet alumni who are shaping young minds as teachers and educators, new members of our Foundation Board committed to advancing our mission, and students whose dreams are fueled by determination and guided by a sense of purpose and connection. Each story is a powerful reminder that when Stan State thrives, the Central Valley thrives.

Leading with cariño — a deep, intentional love that reflects justice and accountability — is not just my leadership approach. It’s the way we show up for each other–our collective calling. And, most importantly, it’s the heartbeat of this University.

Thank you for being part of this incredible journey. Let us continue rising, together, with corazón y valor, as we shape the future of our University, our Valley and our world.

Sinceramente,

Britt Rios-Ellis, Ph.D.
President
