The University Police department is excited to announce it will be hosting its sixth Citizens' Police Academy this spring. The seven week program will meet on Wednesday evenings, February 27, 2019 to April 24, 2019, from 6pm to 8pm at the University Police Department. Participants will learn about law enforcement on our campus through lectures, activities, discussions and hands-on training. Questions and interaction with our highly experience police instructors will be encouraged!
Participants can expect to participate in mock car stops using a marked University Police car, search for latent fingerprints and learn the proper way to package evidence among many other things. Students will also have the option to ride along with a University Police officer during a regular patrol shift.
Stanislaus State students will be given priority enrollment, but we also encourage faculty and staff to apply and learn about policing on our campus.
Applications should be turned in at the University Police Department no later than Wednesday, February 20, 2019. Space is limited to 16 students, applicants who are accepted into the program will be notified by email on February 22nd.
