Stanislaus State, through the work of its Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, has been named a finalist for the 2016 NCAA Division II Award of Excellence, an honor that recognizes the positive impact student-athletes can have on their communities.

In all, 22 universities and three conferences were named as finalists. On Jan. 16, a winner and two other programs will be honored at the 2016 NCAA Convention in San Antonio. The winner will receive $1,500 and will have a football or basketball game nationally televised during the 2016-17 school year. The first runner-up will receive $1,250, and the second runner-up will receive $1,000. All finalists receive $500 to be used for future community engagement initiatives.

The Warriors' SAAC conducted a series of anti-bullying assemblies at Turlock elementary schools, and with the guidance of marketing and sponsorships assistant Amanda Rosas also produced a public service announcement video titled "Bullying Stops with Me."
