Spring 2023

Submitting an ST-Fieldwork application does not guarantee clearance. The application gets your name on a list to have your record thoroughly reviewed. In order to clear and proceed with clinical practice, every candidate, whether employed or not, must complete a fieldwork application and all eligibility requirements.

- Complete and submit a ST-Fieldwork Application by the deadline.
- Have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0
- Be admitted and matriculated to Stanislaus State Graduate School and Credential Program
- Have a valid TB Clearance on file for the entire fieldwork period [August 2023 - December 2023]
- Have a valid CCTC Clearance on file for the entire fieldwork period [August 2023 - December 2023]
- Fully Complete Basic Skills Requirement (BSR) - Here are a few common ways to meet BSR but you can visit CCTC BSR for the complete option list.
- Pass all CBEST subtests - if you are working on taking the CBEST exam, whether it is one section or all three, proof of registration is required. Passing results must be received by April 28, 2023, to clear.
- Pass Commission-approved coursework - this option requires completing and submitting a Basic Skills Requirement (BSR) Form to Credential Services credentials@csustan.edu (if you have not already). A Credential Analyst will evaluate your coursework and confirm if you meet this requirement through coursework or not.
- Combine passed CBEST subtests and Commission-approved coursework - this option requires completing and submitting a Basic Skills Requirement (BSR) Form to Credential Services credentials@csustan.edu (if you have not already). A Credential Analyst will evaluate your coursework and confirm if you meet this requirement through coursework and CBEST subtests or not.
- Fully Complete Subject Matter Competency (SMC) - As of now, SMC can be completed through one of the following options:
- Elementary Subject Matter (ESM) Waivers - undergraduate program through LIBS department
- Pass all CSETs | 101, 214, 225 - if you are working on taking the CSET exams, whether it is one or all three, proof of registration is required. Passing results must be received by April 28, 2023, to clear.
- Have an authorized bachelor's degree that matches content area. - this option requires completing and submitting a Subject Matter Competency (SMC) Verification Form to Credential Services credentials@csustan.edu (if you have not already). A Credential Analyst will evaluate your record and confirm if you meet this requirement through your academic major. *If you are currently completing specific courses for your degree and you are not doing an ESM Waiver, rushed transcript requests will be required by end of semester; degrees must be posted in order for you to clear and proceed with fieldwork.*
- Complete and Pass w/ C or better: Second Language Experience, WP English Composition, American Government/Constitution and ALL Co-requisites and Method Courses
- MSCP teacher candidates cannot take EDMS 4110/4111 or EDMS 4121 or more than 3 additional units (other than the fieldwork courses) while completing clinical practice. Any student who has yet to complete these two courses or needs to enroll in more than 3 units other than the practicum courses (excluding EDMS 4110/4111 or 4121) is required to submit a Selection and Review Petition Form along with a letter to Teacher Education for approval. Petitions require submission 2 weeks before committee meeting. Committee meeting dates can be found on the Teacher Education webpage.

- Attempt RICA Exam
- The RICA attempt deadline is July 9, 2023, to receive results on July 19, 2023.
- Registration for at least one subtest must be submitted to Field Services by April 28, 2023, for conditional clearance. Full clearance will be granted after attempting exam or at least one subtest.
- Students do not need to pass the attempted exam to move forward with fieldwork placement. Passage is required for recommendation by the end of program.
- Registration must display name, test and date of exam.
Due to placement availability, anyone with pending eligibility requirements after April 28, 2023, will be waitlisted. The cleared list is on a first come, first serve basis. We cannot guarantee placement if BSR/SMC is fully passed, or necessary documentation is submitted after the 4/28/23 deadline. Begin to obtain and turn in all necessary documentation to credentials@csustan.edu if you have not done so already.

Every student that was cleared for student teaching by Field Services (employed and non-employed) must enroll in the following fieldwork courses:
- EDMS 4180 - Classroom Management (3 Units)
- EDMS 4190 (001) - Student Teaching Practicum I (4 Units)
- EDMS 4191 (001) - Student Teaching Practicum II (5 Units)
Submit a Credential Application for Online Recommendation to credentials@csustan.edu. Please DO NOT mail this application directly to CCTC. Credential Services will check documents, verify eligibility and recommend for the credential. More information is found in the link below.
All credential students may participate in the commencement ceremony and purchase a cap and gown, the only difference is that there is no application for graduation required for credential students. As long as you are on track to completing all fieldwork requirements and program courses, your name will be provided to the commencement office to add into the program.
